Cleaning and Disinfection Protocol

Twin Tides Kennel maintains a regular cleaning and disinfection schedule to ensure a safe,

sanitary, and odor-controlled environment for all animals in its care. All cleaning and disinfecting agents used in the facility are EPA-registered and approved for animal care settings, and are applied in accordance with manufacturer instructions regarding dilution, contact time, and safety precautions.

Turf Areas: Outdoor turf and exercise yards are cleaned and disinfected daily with dog group rotations and as needed using Eco Strong Odor Eliminator, Simple Green, Bleach or TP 256 . Solid waste is removed promptly, followed by rinsing and application of disinfectant with appropriate dwell time. Turf areas are allowed to dry completely before reuse.

Crates and Kennels: Crates and kennels are cleaned 2x daily during morning/afternoon dog rotation, as needed, and between occupants with Rescue Disinfectant, TP 256, Simple Green. Bedding and bowls are:

removed prior to cleaning, disinfected, replaced if needed. Surfaces are rinsed, scrubbed to remove organic matter, disinfected, and rinsed again. Kennels are allowed to dry fully before an animal re-enters.

Facility Floors and Common Areas: All floors and common traffic areas are cleaned at least once daily and as needed throughout operating hours using Simple Green, Bleach, etc. High-traffic zones are disinfected more frequently to minimize cross-contamination. Cleaning equipment is sanitized after use.

Food and Water Dishes: All food and water bowls are washed and sanitized. twice a day or as seen fit using Dawn, Rescue etc.. Hot water and detergent are used to remove residue, followed by disinfection and

thorough rinsing with potable water. Only clean and dry bowls are returned to service.

General Sanitation Practices: Disposable gloves are worn when handling waste or applying disinfectants. Waste is bagged and disposed of in accordance with local regulations. Mops, brushes, and other tools are color-coded or designated for specific areas to prevent cross-contamination. Animals are not present in areas during disinfection procedures. All staff are trained to understand cleaning procedures to ensure a safe, sanitary working environment with staff and boarded as priority.
